Since 2016, Ute Aurand, Robert Beavers, Anna Faroqhi, Eunice Martins, Haim Peretz and Stefanie Schlüter have taken turns in putting on a special monthly film program for children at Arsenal. Entitled “Film tricks and animated films”, the 74th edition is now taking place at Filmhaus Nürnberg. KRATZIG 1 – ALLES BEWEGT SICH WIE VON SELBST (Germany 2010) was made at the Hunsrück elementary school in Kreuzberg in two workshops with Ute Aurand, Robert Beavers and Stefanie Schlüter and makes pens wander into pencil cases of their own accord and chairs stomp through the snow. Colorful hula hoops make children disappear in HOOP LOOP (Japan 2020) by artist Keitaro Oshima. In A CHAIRY TALE (Canada 1957) by Norman McLaren and Claude Jutra, a chair comes to life in amusing fashion and drives a man to despair in the process. Many children were involved in making MY SCHOOL (Japan 2023) by Keitaro Oshima: in a specially set-up animation studio, they drew hundreds of individual images of everyday life at school. Open to all those aged 5 years and above. Presented by Stefanie Schlüter.
